What is a Food Forest?

A food forest is a diverse, perennial garden that mimics a forest ecosystem and patterns found in nature. Through layers of design, life extends in all directions producing food, medicine, sanctuary, and habitat. A food forest is thoughtfully designed to produce maximum nutrition, beauty and abundance.

How does it work?

It all starts with a Design

Design your property with ease! Choose your type, size, and installation preference. Our experts research and consult with you to create a draft design in 8-10 weeks. Review and adapt the design in a 1-hour call. Our senior designers review and approve the final project for delivery. DIY package includes a consultation for installation.

Install your food forest

Transform your lawn into an edible landscape with ease! Our installation team will visit your site to build a proposal for construction. A group call is scheduled to confirm the approach. Once approved, we will require a deposit of 80% so we can source materials and schedule the project. Witness the transformation and pay the remaining amount after completion

Last year, I was excited about having a vegetable garden and planting a couple of blueberry bushes. I can not say for sure if I was led to Jim Gale’s YouTube Food Forest Abundance video by Universe or my search history. However, my follow up meeting with Annette Argabright is changing my life. Food forests come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it’s a large-scale, public space or suburban backyard, our designs are customized and ready to install.

Questions & Answers

How much space do I need?

We designed a food forest on 700 square feet in Orlando, FL and it’s loaded with over 40 food and medicine producers. Through the layers of a food forest and what’s planted, more can be yielded in the same square footage of space as an annual garden.

How long does it take to get food?

Food forests are forever. Perennial plants can typically take between 2 and 5 years to produce food or fruit, however, we also plant annual vegetables for your short-term food supply.

What is the process?

You first share details with us about your space, how much you want designed, and what you want out of your food forest. Your designer will gather the information they need and use Google Earth and other tools to assess your property and create the food forest design of your dreams.

How much will an installation cost?

An average backyard installation costs about the same as conventional landscaping. We can grow a lot of food for $10K.

Do you provide installation services?

Yes. We work with our network of local food forest installers, in locations all across the country and globally, to ensure your designed food forest is installed professionally and to the highest standards. If you are in a remote area, or an area that we do not yet serve, we will do our best to travel to you.

Where can you design and install a food forest?

I don't know the first thing about gardening. How can I maintain my Food Forest?

Our food forest designs are low-maintenance and, over time, self-sustaining like a natural forest would be. We will create a design that suits your lifestyle and provide any necessary care instructions, support, and training. The best way to maintain is to observe and interact with joy.
